ocean soul yoga

Since then, Claire's life has taken twists and turns - one of which being given the devastating diagnosis of breast cancer.
Claire has been faithfully writing in her blog throughout this entire process - sharing some of the most inspirational thoughts and feelings as she battles this disease.
I recently had the opportunity to update some photos on her website that are just absolutely beautiful. They were taken by tai of photaigraphy.com and are truly lovely and empowering images.
I am so very proud to have the opportunity to work with Claire. I love the website we created together and I completely admire her. This is a must read blog. Truly. And if time and location permit... definitely take a yoga class with Claire! she is continuing to teach classes! see her yoga schedule.
* seaside papery has a new summer website *

SO when I began to develop design concepts for a new seaside papery website this spring, I knew whatever I developed had to be really special. I wanted the designs to reflect everything I love about the store and how it ties into the beautiful island location of Coronado.
We tried a few directions but one thought kept coming back to me... the beautiful look and feel of a shabby chic beach cottage. Adorably styled with an eclectic mix of comfortable paired with elegant. Distressed white furniture, bright big fluffy summer flowers in crystal vases, seashells collected in glass bowls, a favorite pair of flip flops by the door. This is the look and feel I wanted to capture for this summer website.
So with these images in mind, I started out with a seashell frame and an assortment of paper items, clipped and placed into a collage - the same way you would save your favorite photos, postcards or cards. Then on a whim I began distressing the frame and the photos- giving them that amazing summer feel. I loved how that looked but something was missing. I kept thinking about summer... what are some other things that really feel like a summer at the beach? A summer love of course! I began to draft a love letter and screened it into the background. A letter written by a young woman to the man she is missing and wishing he was with her on the island. Next came the idea to add a sketch. A year ago I sketched out a chinoiserie style concept for a room scene I wanted to paint on my bedroom walls... I haven't finished that project yet, but I definitely love how it looks screened back into this site design.
So there it is... a new summer website... with a story.
